Monistat for Face Primer???!!! The Truth: Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel Vs. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer

Monistat for Face Primer???!!! The Truth: Monistate Chafing Cream Vs. Smashbox Photofinish Primer

I have been using Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer for a long time now and last time I went to order some more through Sephora I stumbled across a product review that mentioned something about Monistat's Chafing Relief Powder-Gel.  I did some research and found out that "dimenthicone" is the main ingredient to both these products, making Monistat's Chafing Gel the cheapest way ( $6.79 for 1.5 oz @ Drugstore.com or Amazon) to prime your face vs. Smashbox's ($36 for 1 oz at Sephora.)  ***IMPORTANT Note: Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel is different than the Monistat yeast infection stuff that the brand is known for!! please do not buy the wrong one!!
I have been testing out Monistat's chafing gel for a while now and honestly cannot tell too much of a difference from Smashbox.  Monistat's formula is a little cloudier looking but goes on clear and Smashbox's formula feels a little bit greasier.  So far they have both worked exactly the same after applied, and I almost prefer the less greasier chafing gel.  I am really loving Monistat's formula and definitely loving the price!
For those of you that don't know what primer is used for, it is used to prep and prime the face before applying foundation and makeup without clogging your pores.  It gets rid of excess shine, smooths out skin, pores and wrinkles to create an even canvas so that foundation can be applied flawlessly.   If you hate wearing foundation like I do, you can also wear it alone.  After your daily regime, (washing face, moisturizing, applying spf etc.) put the primer on, let it sink in for a couple of minutes, then add concealer to only the areas needed and then finally finish off with some translucent powder.   Even without foundation, your skin will look so much better and your pores will definitely look less visible.  Even guys with large pores can use this method!
Another tip about using primer is that you can use it in the evening after your nightly beauty regime too.  Applying primer after you moisturize helps seal in the ingredients in your moisturizer, eye cream and whatever else your using to soak in better on your face at night.  At a fraction of the price of Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer, anyone can afford to use it day and night!
